5 Fitness Favorites 28th July

Ok here’s the 1st installment of Friday’s 5 Fitness Favourites a post covering my 5 favorite fitness related things from apps to social media post worth of your attention.  So lets get straight into it.

1 – Athlytic iPhone/ Apple Watch App:

So I’ve just started using this app on my apple watch and I’m loving it, I had in the past used the whoop strap (but got over the monthly subscription model) and Oura Ring (hard to lift weights without scratching it while wearing it. during lifting workouts). 

The Athlyticapp gives the fitness & health enthusiast everything they’d need, as a coach and for my own training all the data from whoop was great but at the end of the day you could say it’s over kill and in my opinion it wasn’t worth the monthly fee compared to an the annual fee $49 for Athlytic when all the same applicable data is available inside Athlytic.

What’s inside app you ask?

  1. Recovery & Ready To Train: We know the key to unlocking your true potential lies in recovery. Athlytic analysis two health metrics – Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and Resting Heart Rate (RHR) – it calculates your daily Recovery score. It also takes a 60-day average of these metrics as your baseline, and from there, it evaluates your current day’s readings to estimate your readiness to hit the gym and train.

  2. Exertion Goals: Want to crush your workouts without overdoing it? Athlytic has got you covered! Your Recovery score sets the tone for the day by displaying a range of numbers from 1 to 10. It’s your personal gauge to determine the perfect amount of exertion you should aim for during your training session. Remember, different workouts have varying exertion levels – Like Whoop though cardio style sessions tend to rank higher in exertion compared to weight training. So keep that in mind when doing intense neurological strength workouts

  3. Sleep Optimization: The secret to reaching peak performance lies in getting those ZZZs! Ahlytic calculates the rejuvenating power of REM & Deep sleep as restorative sleep, closely monitors your weekly average, and keeps an eye on your sleep debt. But that’s not all – Athlytic will provide you with personalised suggestions and targets to take your sleep game to the next level.

3 – 45 Degree Hip Extension Tips From The Guys @ N1

4 – Neuro Prime – My Current Favourite!!!

5 Tim Ferris & Charles Poliquin Podcast

As we conclude the GBC (German Body Composition) Program, it seems fitting to pay tribute to the man who popularised this program. To do so, I’d like to share one of my favorite podcasts where he was featured on Tim Ferris’s show. Regrettably, Charles, the man behind this training program, passed away in September 2018. I was lucky enough to attend many of his seminars from 2007.
